Keiron cartridges and boresighters

Picture
Keiron laser cartridges and boresighters are made on modern CNC machines to the highest quality.     The laser training cartridges are available in common calibres, in both red and infrared versions.  These maximise range and compatibility with the Keiron targets.

Keiron Laser Training Cartridges

The Keiron training cartridges allow you to train at home with your own personal firearm.  They are convenient, relatively inexpensive, and work great with the Keiron targets.
CAUTION: Make sure you unload and store all live ammo in a locked cupboard or different room when training!  Ensure the firearm is completely empty before loading your training cartridge.

Red or Infrared?  How to choose:
The training cartridges are available with either red or infrared lasers.  Standard Keiron targets react to both, so that is not a consideration.

Red lasers allow a visual determination of impact point, and may be used on their own without a target - just select an appropriate aiming point such as a paper target on the wall.  If you are new to electronic training aids or if you are a bit technically challenged this is the version to choose.  The red lasers work absolutely great!

Infrared lasers activate the Keiron targets invisibly.  The infrared laser can not be seen with the human eye.  This has the benefit of forcing you to aim using your sights.  When using a red laser one could "cheat" by observing the actual laser dot, instead of focusing on the front sight.   So the infrared has that advantage.  However, the downside is in trouble shooting.  Because it is invisible it is a bit harder to determine what a problem may be should a problem arise.

Combining Targets

Read this first to inform your training and purchasing options:

When purchasing your first Keiron reactive target, it is best to start with Keiron SPEED that incorporates a shot timer and different training modes.  A basic mode may be selected that simply illustrates the target has been hit, this is great for basic training, sight alignment, trigger squeeze and follow through.  To increase difficulty or to simulate shooting at greater distances, use a target insert that reduces the area of the strike zone.

It is vital to practice drawing your firearm and getting the first shot off in an accurate, controlled, fast and SAFE manner.  We stress the word SAFE because people get injured when shooting themselves accidentally when drawing their firearm - simply google this to see numerous examples.  Keiron SPEED incorporates 2 training modes that allow you to practice your draw, firearm handling and getting that first shot on target.  Times are recorded, so you can examine these afterward and monitor progress.  You can also use these modes to evaluate different holsters, holster positions (inside waist band, small of back etc) to see what works best for you.  For competition shooters the draw mode allows the draw to be practiced over and over, from different start positions, training the reflexes and improving times.

The next purchase should be one or more Keiron TARGETs.  These work great together with Keiron SPEED by allowing multiple targets to be engaged, with Keiron SPEED acting as the timer.

There are many combinations that allow practicing a variety of disciplines.  For example, with a single Keiron SPEED and a single Keiron TARGET, one may practice shooting the Mozambique drill (failure to stop drill).  With a single Keiron SPEED, and 4 Keiron TARGETS, one may practice shooting steel, with the Keiron SPEED acting as the stop plate, and recording your times.  Use scale target inserts to simulate live actual ranges used in competition, in your own home.
